Press release from disability charity against Frankie Boyle joke:
As a disability charity, we strongly stand by people that are less able, and we try to change their lives for the better and give them hope and same opportunities as everyone else. Frankie Boyle's joke had hit all over the media, raising negative attention and complaints. The public found that his vile joke against not only a young innocent and defenceless boy, but his disability was highly abusive and harsh. The fact that he felt the need to attack an innocent boy with a disability in his comedy show, thinking it’s a way of attempting to amuse the audience is just horrendous and should consider a different career path.
This issue should be taken much more seriously. It’s completely unacceptable. Around 500 people did complain about this issue to the independent regulation indicator. We understand that this might not concern Channel 4 in any way, as it doesn't breach their rules and regulations which is sad because not only doesn’t it breach their rules and regulations but they also broadcast such absurd behaviour to people making it seem right to joke about such things, which can give the company a bad name.
I understand that Boyle is only doing his job as a comedian by entertaining his audience, and sadly, a small percentage of people do find jokes like that amusing and funny; but I genuinely think that there are loads of other topics out there he could have used to entertain, without offending the greater percentage of people who found it offensive.

Channel 4 did describe this behaviour as 'testing the boundaries', well now they have tested their boundaries and understood the consequences it has caused and hope that none of this would be repeated again in the future.
